You are on the market for a home and you find your style, location, everything. You are told that the home has been renovated prior to being listed to sell. The home is being sold as a “flipped home”.
Although there are many qualified companies with excellent reputations in this type of product, there are many that are not also. Even if you have a licensed inspection service complete their assessment, there are always the hidden aspects of the property such as plumbing, electrical, etc.
When going through the home at an open house or private showing, act as if you lived there, most of the properties are vacant so flush those toilets, open the windows and doors, pull back rugs, open closets, flip the switches. Ask who did the renovations. Ask for a contractor list, especially the mechanical contractors. They are most likely (and you want this), licensed to do their type of work. They can help with some of the “inside” stuff.
If you have a friend or acquaintance in the remodeling industry, have them take a peek prior to and decision you make. It can only help!
